KBR Redux

.
See my post of 5 December 2008 for background on this.

You can go here to sign IAVA petition to try to get KBR to face their decisions.

Paul Rieckhoff of IAVA, writes at Huffington Post says,

  • But this is not just some sad story about accidental chemical exposure. This is a question of responsibility.
  • We need real answers from KBR. And so far, the company has denied any wrongdoing whatsoever... The veterans' community will fight back, and we need everyone's help.

The Rich Get Richer

.
It is time to get MAD. Watch this video and then call, write, email your representative and both senators. Tell them to support Rep. Jan Schakowsky's bill to phase out private military contractors altogether.
  • The scandals for KBR just keep coming. The former Halliburton subsidiary ... is now subject of a class-action lawsuit for exposing employees to "unsafe water, food, and hazardous fumes" at the largest U.S. installation in Iraq.
  • Former KBR Water Purification Specialist Ben Carter described ...[how]... KBR failed to provide adequate water safety, resulting in toxic drinking and bathing water.
  • [The] war profiteer [KBR] also failed to manage a medical incinerator properly, instead disposing medical waste and human remains in an open air burn pit. Joshua Eller, a former technician with the 332nd Air Expeditionary Wing claims that at one point, he saw a wild dog running around the base with a human arm in its mouth that KBR had dumped into the pit.
  • And the grizzly kicker, the suit accuses KBR of using mortuary trucks that "still had traces of body fluids and putrefied remains in them when they were loaded with ice" later served to U.S. troops.
But at least KBR made money. And isn't that the American Way--according to the Bush Doctrine? The rich get richer and the poor (soldiers) get infected.

Disgusting.

A proper response to this: the top three tiers of KBR executives & VP Cheney should be loaded onto a plane, flown to Iraq, forced to work at the "open air burn pit" and shower in and drink the water--for six months.
